Exhibition hall 11

A unique architectural design: the new Hall 11.

Not spoiled for choice – with Sanpress stainless steel 1.4521

Frankfurt am Main is the most important and most visited exhibition and trade fair location in Germany. The growing demand for additional floor space was met with the construction of the new hall 11 completed in 2009 – a building remarkable both for its architectural design and its technical features. In keeping with those high standards, the complete drinking water system was installed using the Sanpress pipe 1.4521. Its pipelines – 13 kilometres of them, in 15 to 108 mm dimensions – were to be made of stainless steel throughout.

One stainless steel for all applications

The Sanpress pipe 1.4521 may be used in any water extraction, treatment or distribution system. "Mixed" installations with the familiar Sanpress pipe 1.4401 are possible, as is the use of gunmetal or stainless steel connectors.

The "mixed" installations and the unrestricted usage of the connectors especially were factors in favour of Sanpress 1.4521. Another key consideration for the planners was to get the products for subsequent additions or repairs from a single source. In addition, the same piping system also needed to be usable in the osmosis plants and in the softened water zones as well as in the normal drinking water network.

Practical solutions

That was no problem with the pipe material 1.4521. With regard to the connectors, the free choice between gunmetal and stainless steel also enabled exactly the right installation for the media being transported: gunmetal connectors for drinking water, and stainless steel connectors for the osmosis plant and the softened water. Another practical benefit was that both connector variants could be processed with the same press tool and matching press jaws. That greatly simplified the workflows, and eliminated the possibility of safety-relevant pressing errors.
